VRFD | Week 1: YOUR STORY, GOD'S GLORY

Everywhere students look, someone’s asking them to prove who they are—through likes, achievements, or belonging to the right crowd. But God already knows and verifies their worth. This series helps students trade the pressure to perform for the peace of being known and loved by the One who made them. Our prayer is that by the end of this series, students will find their confidence not in what others say, but in who God says they are.

BOTTOM LINE
Your Story, God’s Story

SCRIPTURE
Ephesians 2:10 "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do".
John 15:26–27 "When the Advocate comes... the Spirit of truth... he will testify about me. And you also must testify..."
2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

  • JUST FOR FUN

Take some time to catch up. Ask your students about their Christmas/New Year break AND what they’re most excited about in 2026.

    DISCUSS THIS

    1. If your entire camera roll from the last week was projected, which photo would you be the most proud of, and which one would you be tempted to delete immediately? Why?

    2. "Reputation is who people think you are; Identity is who God says you are." Why do you think we work so much harder on our reputations than we do on understanding our identity in Christ?

    3. The lesson mentions two "traps": hiding your struggles to look good, or parading your sin just to fit in. Which one do you feel is a bigger temptation for students at your school right now?

    4. We often try to hide our "unedited" selves from God, but the Holy Spirit is called the "Spirit of Truth." How does it change your perspective to know that God sees the 100% unedited version of your life and still calls you "Beloved"?

    5. Have you ever had a moment where someone else’s vulnerability made you feel less alone? What was that like?

    6. Read 2 Corinthians 5:17. In the world of social media, we "improve our profiles" by

deleting old posts. According to this verse, how is being a "new creation" in Jesus

different from just "improving your profile"?

    7. Drafting Your Story Looking at the "Before/God/Now" framework from the lesson, if you were to be 100% honest about one thing you’ve been "editing out" of your life lately, what would it be? How can this group pray for you in that area?
