Counterfeit | Wk 1: NEVER ALONE IN YOUR CHALLENGES
Love and temptation often look alike at first glance. Both promise excitement, connection, and satisfaction—but one leads to life, the other to regret. This series helps students recognize what’s real and what’s fake by anchoring their understanding of love in God’s truth. Our prayer is that students would learn to guard their hearts, resist temptation, and experience a love that isn’t counterfeit but rooted in who Jesus is.
BOTTOM LINE
Your never alone in your challenges
SCRIPTURE
Matthew 4:1–11: Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness // Hebrews 4:15: For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. // Proverbs 4:23: Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

DISCUSS THIS
1. Think of a time you bought something or saw something that looked "real" but turned out to be a total fake (like a knock-off brand or a photoshopped photo). How did you feel when you discovered the truth?
2. The lesson says counterfeits are "shortcuts" to satisfaction. In your life right now, where are you most tempted to take a shortcut instead of doing things the right way (e.g., in school, in your character, or in your relationships)?
3. Jesus was tested in three areas: Satisfying His cravings, Proving His worth, and Gaining Power/Control. Which of these three "lanes" do you feel the most pressure in right now?
4. Why do you think we tend to hide our struggles and pretend we "have it all together" instead of being honest? How does staying isolated make a counterfeit seem more attractive?
5. How does knowing that Jesus already faced your exact temptations change the way you talk to Him about your mistakes?
6. We often think being in a "wilderness" (a hard time or a season of struggle) means we’ve done something wrong. But the Bible says the Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness. How does it change your perspective to know that God can use your hardest challenges to strengthen your faith rather than break it?
7. Have someone read Proverbs 4:23 out loud and take sometime to pray for over the week.
