Not Just On Christmas | Where there is not peace, bring it.

While so many think the Christmas story ends with the birth of Jesus, we want students to see that in reality, that is just the beginning of the hope, peace, joy, and love He brought to the world. These are things we can experience through Jesus not just on Christmas, but throughout the year.

BOTTOM LINE
Where there is not peace, bring it.

SCRIPTURE
Luke 2:10-14 - "...Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests."
Isaiah 9:6 - "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
John 14:27 - Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

  • JUST FOR FUN

What's a song, movie, or activity that instantly makes you feel calm or a peace, no matter what's going on?

    DISCUSS THIS

    1. When you hear the word "peace," what kind of image or situation comes to mind? Why do you think we often connect peace with a lack of problems?

    2. The message pointed out that Jesus was born into a really violent and un-peaceful time. What does that tell you about the kind of peace the angels were announcing?

    3. Jesus says He gives a peace that is different from how "the world gives" peace. What are some ways the world tries to offer us peace? Why do those things usually fall short?

    4. Think about the last week. Was there a moment you felt your peace was stolen by a situation, a conversation, or a worry? What happened?

    5. The bottom line is, "Where peace is missing, bring it." What does it practically look like for a high schooler to "bring peace" to a tense family dinner or a drama-filled group chat?

    6. How does knowing God is with you in a difficult situation change the way you might respond to it?

    7. What is one relationship or situation this week where you can intentionally choose to be a peacemaker instead of adding to the stress or chaos?

    TRY THIS

Challenge your students to become aware of what steals their peace. When they feel stressed, anxious, or drawn into drama, encourage them to pause for 30sec and silently pray, "Jesus, give me Your peace right now." The goal is to practice inviting God's internal peace into their external chaos.
