  • (FOR LEADERS) We use a three-part system for life groups. Pastoral Care: Relationship mingled with serving them. Learning Together: this is how we take the knowledge we learn together and turn it into wisdom. Using scripture and one another. Accountability:  This isn’t old school accountability type stuff. This is real life stuff. Finding out how they genuinely fared over the last week.

  • It is a weird wild season so don’t just be flexible. Be fluid. We will have to be the ones who set the culture and expectations for the students in this unusual time so just make sure and keep a structured time these next few weeks until they get used to this season.

  • Truth:

    • Ask the students to define truth.

      • Talk through the difference between Absolute and Relative truth

      • Ask for examples.

    • Have someone read 1 Peter 1:22-25

      • What does this teach us about how Followers of Christ should deal with the absolute truth of Jesus?

      • Explain that the bible is making an analogy to explain how our bodies and this place we are in. The things we see and hear and smell and touch they don’t last forever. But that the absolute truth of God does last forever. Jesus lasts forever. What he did lasts forever, and for those who follow him, we last forever as a part of God’s family.

    • In Psalm 86:11 David is speaking to God about his truth. Read it as a group.

      • Explain that the word fear there is a different thing than what they are probably thinking. It doesn’t mean to just be afraid of God like he is scary. It really means to be in complete awe of or total astonishment or to revere him,.

      • Talk about why David would say this to God. And why we should say it too.

    • Take a look back at Philippians 4:8

      • Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

  • Take some time and talk about what stood out to them the most about John Malcolm’s story so far.

  • Finish with Prayer

We will know we have hit our target if:

-Students have an understanding of the difference between absolute and relative truth.

-Students are invested in John Malcolms story.

-We have said Philippians 4:8 out loud.

-Everyone leaves energized for the next week of Moxie.
