  • Clean hands and cover their mouths when they cough. :) // If someone is clearly under the weather notify Heather..

  • Being rooted in Jesus means we have to know him. Like really know him. This morning’s panel we had a bunch of ladies share some of the ways they get to know God.

    • Very few things in this world is more powerful at helping us grow in relationship with Jesus and become rooted in him than scripture.

    • Spend some time making sure this truth makes sense to them.

  • A wonderfully simple way to start getting spiritual nutrition and growing in your relationship is the soap method. Let’s do it together!

    • S for Scripture
: Open your Bible to Colossians 2:6-7. Take some time reading and allow God to speak to you. When you are done, think about the verse that particularly spoke to you, and write it in your journal.

    • O for Observation
: What struck you and caught your attention in what you read?
What do you think God is saying to you in this scripture?
Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and reveal Jesus to you. Paraphrase and write this scripture down in your own words.

    • A for Application:
Personalize what you have read, ask yourself how it applies to your life right now. Perhaps it is instruction, encouragement, revelation of a new promise or corrections for a particular area of your life. Write how this scripture can apply to you today. This should denote action in your life.

    • P for Prayer
: This can be as simple as asking God to help you use this scripture, or it may be a greater insight into what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say! Now, write it out.

  • Soap can be used with any reading plan, or devotional, or in general reading of the Bible. You can always use it.

  • Talk a little with the ladies about other ways to digest scripture:

    • Another simple bible reading method you can use
is - Pray, Read, Think, Pray.

    • You can also utilize the You Version Bible App:

      • Have them download it if they do not already have it. Look at the app together. Show them how to search for plans, show them how to look for bible verses and how to change translations. ETC.

    • Journaling is a great way to make scripture a regular rhythm in your life.

    • It can also be very valuable to spend time memorizing key verses in your life.

  • Sometime it can be a huge hurdle to figure out where to start. Spend some time talking as a group, and leaders please make suggestions, about how to do this.My thoughts are Hebrews, John, the Gospels.

  • Have someone read John 1:1

    • His word is Him

  • Have someone else read 2 Timothy 3:16-17

  • Review why being rooted in the Word is so important.

How has your life been marked by this rhythm? Share some with your girl’s.

  • Talk through if the girls have any experience of spending time in God’s word outside of for school or church.

  • Call back to the Colossians Verses: Rooting yourself in Christ sets our anchors on a firm foundation. No matter what comes and how you are tossed about, roots planted in Him keep us steady and strong.

  • Pray as a group.

We will know we have hit our target if:

-The ladies have some simple tools to help them make scripture a regular rythym in their lives.

-Leaders have been able to share personal experiences from their lives about how they interact with God's word.
