Young Saints :: Joseph and Potiphar's Wife
Clean hands and cover their mouths when they cough. :) // If someone is clearly under the weather notify Chad, Jimmy, or Heather.
This series life group material is going to be simpler by design. Just a few questions and some scripture and you all as leaders need to work to create an environment where the students become a part of the discipleship journey. They are Young Saints and we need to start treating them that way. (NO ANARCY THO. lol)
An easy way to do this is by listening and finding stories you can expand upon from their world.
Once they have skin in the game just ask genuinely inquisitive open ended questions that direct them back towards the truth that they are not to young to be used by God.
Ask the students what comes to mind when they hear the word temptation?
Maybe it is bug, maybe it is small.
Be aware of where conversations are going and moderate accordingly.
Ask them how they personally try to resist temptation?
And is it working?
Ask what are some ways they can run away from temptation in their lives?
Have a discussion about how all of you in your group could learn to desire Jesus more this next week.
Do your best to have the students lead in this and you just move it along. Affirm them when they make good strides.
Have a student read 1 Corinthians 10:13
Facilitate a conversation among the students where they work together to explore this verse.
Have another student read Genesis 39:1-18
You can stop throughout the story to explore it if you’d like.
Facilitate a conversation among the students where they work together to explore the truth and importance of fleeing temptation just as Joseph did.
Make sure they know they are not too young to resist temptation.
Pray as a group about truly fleeing from temptation both big and small.
REMIND THEM ABOUT RADIANT AND THE FOUNDRY :)
We will know we have hit our target if:
-They leave knowing they have the ability to run from their temptation and not just keep sinning because they are young.
-Everyone has a better understanding that in our current culture when we choose to flee temptation sometimes people around us will bully us or make fun of us. Just like Potiphar's wife. But the truth in 1 Corinthians 10 gives us strength to endure.
-They have been reminded about Radiant and The Foundry.
