Use the lead app to check in students and make sure any students not listed fill out a connect card digitally.
Do not move on until checkin has happened and any students not listed have filled out a connect card.
Take a moment to check in from last week: Baptism questions or connections and if they did anything specific since last Wednesday .
This week we took a look at 4 different POV’s on Jesus from Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
Matthew: Jesus is the one who breaks the cycle.
Talk about a time in your life where you felt stuck in a cycle. (Edit for age appropriate content leaders)
Ask the students how they answered the question “Have you ever felt stuvk in a cycle"?”
Spend a few minutes talking about those cycles.
Have a student read Matthew 11:28-30
What is one way this week they could start to live that truth out when it comes to those cycles? Try to get specific answers.
Mark: Jesus is the divine man of action.
Ask the students to share a time in your life where you felt like you were being lazy or avoiding something hard. You can share as well but allow them the opportunity to lead the conversation if they can leaders.
Ask “Is there something particular in your life you know you need to act in?”
Discuss whatever their answers are. (Pro tip they have one for sure. It may require some moments of silence for them to speak into this. Be comfortable in the silence)
Ask for a simple next step to start acting in those areas.
Have a student read Mark 10:26-27
Pray as a group that you all would allow God to guide your steps in those areas.
Luke: Jesus is a friend to the needy.
The needy can be those who are poor, or sick, or especially anyone who is far from God.
Talk about how Jesus spent time with the sinners and the tax collectors.
Have a student read Luke 5:30-32
Ask “What did jesus mean when he said “Thsoe who are well have no need of a physician, but htose who are sick”?
Ask “What does it mean that Jesus loves unconditionally?”
During the large group tonight we asked if anyone in their lives had ever heard that truth from them. The truth of the Gospel. If you have a story of a time where you shared the gospel with someone now would be a great time to share it.
Ask them “What is one way you can share the gospel this week?”
John: Jesus is God.
Ask them what is their favorite bread?
Have a student read John 6:33-35
Ask them “What does he mean by bread of life?”
Talk about the importance of him starting that statement with I AM as a group.
Ask “Which of these points of view challenges you the most?”
Discuss
Ask “Which of these points of view do you vibe with the most?
Discuss
Remind them of the Rashomon effect
Ask “Does anyone have a POV of Jesus that they’d like to share that could help the group know him better?”
Leaders this is a place where it is okay and encouraged to lead by example.
Close by praying as a group.
We will know we have hit our target if:
-We have ecplored the 4 POV's of the gospels from tonight.
-We get everyone entered into the system by ensuring everyone has filled out a connect form if they aren't on the check in page.
-Our personal connection with Jesus has grown through the exploration of those POV's.
-We walk out with simple steps to walk in the truth of who Jesus is in our daily lives starting tomorrow.
