Open :: Hearts
Clean hands and cover their mouths when they cough. :) // If someone is clearly under the weather notify Chad, Jimmy, or Heather.
Connect with them about their time over the Holidays to build some relational equity.
Make sure you start by going over the Life Group expectations with everyone.
Take a second and talk about the video of Anise.
What do you think of the story so far?
What do you think will happen next?
How Does Anise’s story connect to what we talked about tonight?
Why do you think we try to hold onto the things we have been given in life so tightly?
Make it personal and get them to answer the question as themselves and not “churchy answers”
Read back through the Parable in Matthew 25:14-30
What do you think would have happened if the third servant had tried something and lost the talent he was given?
The key is the position of his heart not his output.
If he was open with what he had been given and tried to grow the rich mans talent even if he lost he would have been a good servant.
If he had been flippant with it and lost it he would not.
Make sure the students understand that:
“We cannot live like Jesus until we are open like Jesus.”
Ask them who has decided to try the challenge to be OPEN
If they have make a note in your phone or somewhere so you can check back in with them.
Finish by praying a prayer of thanks for all that God gives as and that we would live with open hearts when it come to those gifts.
Remind them about:
