Equipped - Jesus helps us stand firm in our faith even when the world is crazy.
Pastoral Care:
Spend a few moments talking with the students about what is going on in their life. It can be lighthearted but it does need to be about life. An easy way to get into this is by asking “What is going on in your life this week? How can we pray for you? “
If they have anything heavy they are dealing with ask them if it would be okay if you prayed for them this next week? Listen to what they say, empathize, try not to solve problems unless they ask for a solution
Learning Together:
Last week we learned that God gives us resolve so that we can make him famous.
How did this play out for you in your life this last week? What stood out to you tonight?
Read Philippians 1:27-28
Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God.
What can we do as a life group to stand firm in one spirit, side by side?
Read 2 Thessalonians 2:13-15
But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter.
What is one area in your life where it feels crazy?
Spend a few minutes exploring truths about who God is and who they are in light of their different situations.
In these two sections of scripture:
What is the bible saying about your relationship with God?
What should you be doing in light of that?
Accountability:
Spend a little time checking in with the students about this last week. If they discussed anything last week that involved action or decisions check in on those things.
Ask about any situations you are aware of and how you might be able to help.
Accountability isn’t a time to talk through what they should and shouldn’t do it is a time to help them be authentic followers. If they said they would do something over the last week, ask if they did. If they didn’t just ask why not. Grace is key to discipleship.
