Deliverer :: Purpose
Use the lead app to check in students and make sure any students not listed fill out a connect card digitally.
Do not move on until check-in has happened and any students not listed have filled out a connect card.
Start by having a student read Hebrews 11:24-26.
24 By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. 26 He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.
Now have another student read Acts 5:29
29 But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.
Now have a discussion comparing and contrasting Moses’ story with modern success and popularity.
Purpose Over Popularity
Bart talked about four statements that can help lead us towards purpose.
You each should have a cup and there are a dew Markers in the small group bucket.
Hand those out and Write these four statements filling in the blanks. (Leaders help them out how you can, lead them by doing as well)
My main purpose is _____________________________.
My main distraction is ___________________________.
My greatest pain is _____________________________.
To choose purpose, I will ________________________.
Create a discussion led by these questions:
Who wants to share their distraction? (Having a few share would be good)
Who wants to share what parts of their life are painful right now? (Having a few share would be good)
Who wants to share how they answered the last question? (What will they actually do)
Take some time teaching through the importance of actually answering and following through with the last statement if they want to live life on purpose. If they actually chose purpose over popularity what would they need to do next?
PRAY and CHILL
We will know we have hit our target if:
-Students leave understanding purpose is more valuable and more life giving than the pursuit of popularity.
-The young ladies are signed up for Radiant.
-Students and leaders leave with a cup filled out and with a simple next step to help them choose purpose in their life.
