Start by reading Philippians 4:6-7.
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
The Pathway to Peace
We live in a stressed-out society. According to the American Institute for Stress, About33% of people report feeling extreme stress, 77% of people experience stress that affects their physical health, 73% of people have stress that impacts their mental health, 48% of people have trouble sleeping because of stress, and stress is the leading health concern for people ages 12-18
Create a discussion led by these questions:
What makes you smile regularly?
Everyone experiences some form of anxiety that ranges from “everyday worry” to “clinical anxiety.” What makes you feel anxious occasionally or regularly?
What do you do when you are feeling anxious? Where do you feel anxiety in your body?
The practice of gratitude is a helpful way to combat feelings of anxiety and depression. What has been your experience practicing gratitude? Why do you think this is helpful?
Does talking to God about the things your anxious about help you worry less? What are some ways you can seek God first with your anxieties?
PRAY and CHILL
We will know we have hit our target if:
-Students understand anxiety and its causes a little better.
-The young ladies are signed up for Radiant.
-Students start thinking about how they might surrender to God instead of pursuing control.
