Don't Believe the Storm :: Anxiety
Use the lead app to check in students and make sure any students not listed fill out a connect card digitally.
Do not move on until check-in has happened and any students not listed have filled out a connect card.
Remind them they can ask us anything by texting AMA to 678-798-8338 or by dropping a card in the lobby AMA Box.
A few starter questions:
Have you ever gone into a “what if” spiral? What about?
Have you experienced peace from God that passes understanding? Tell us about it.
Have one of the students grab a bible and find Luke 10.
While they get their place let them know we will be looking at an event in Jesus life where he shares the truth we learned tonight with someone. He has just finished the parable of the good Samaritan and he sets out on his way.
Have the student read Verses 38-42
Here are the verses in case you need them:
'38Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. 39And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. 40But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things,42but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:38-42
As a reminder our main point tonight was “Jesus can still the storm of anxiety”
You can start by just issuing OIA on the scripture in light of what we have learned:
Observation
Interpretation
Application
Make sure and help students see the connection between Moses, Martha, and the truth in Philippians we studied tonight.
Next Step
A few questions to spur on next steps.
What do you think it looks like to give your anxieties to God in the real world?
What are some anxious thoughts you’re going to give to God this week?
Finish by praying as a group.
We will know we have hit our target if:
-Students and leaders can identify with the idea of "What ifs" and anxiety.
-Students and leaders have commited to a next step in giving their anxieties to God.
-All the guys know Foundry is coming and they need to sign up. All the ladies know they can let their guy friends know they should go to the Foundry cause it rocks.
