UUU | Wk 1: UNSHAKEABLE

This three-week teaching series studying the book of Philippians is all about evangelism. We want students to develop an overwhelming thankfulness for their salvation and for God’s goodness. His love for them is Unshakeable! As an overflow they will embrace their identity as children of God and become Unashamed ambassadors of the good news of His kingdom. Ultimately, God is Unstoppable in His mission to bring His lost children back into relationship with Him.

  • JUST FOR FUN

Take some time to catch up. Ask your students – What is one trend, you were once 100% convinced was the coolest thing ever, but now makes you want to crawl into a hole?

    DISCUSS THIS:
    1. We’ve all had those "Lee Pipes" moments where we tried to be cool and it backfired. Why do you think we feel so much pressure to be "good" or "perfect" in front of other people?

    2. The lesson mentioned that people are "bad at being good." When you look at the world or even your own life, where do you see that "gap" between our best intentions and our actions?

    3. In Philippians, Paul writes from a literal prison cell, yet he sounds incredibly joyful. If your identity was based on your circumstances (grades, sports, popularity) vs. your identity in Christ, how would your mood change on a bad day?

    4. The Gospel is described as Jesus "bridging the gap" because we couldn’t jump across it ourselves. How does it feel to know that God’s love for you isn't based on how well you "perform" or how "good" you are?

    5. Read Philippians 1:12-14. Paul says his chains actually helped spread the Good News. Can you think of a "bad" situation in your life where God ended up doing something good?

    6. The challenge this week is to become aware of the Holy Spirit working in others. What are some "clues" or signs that the Holy Spirit might be opening a door for a conversation with a friend or classmate?

    7. Think about your "mission field" (your school, your team, or your gaming group). If you stopped trying to be "perfect" and just started being a "witness" to God’s goodness, how would that change the way you talk to people this week?
