Made For More | Wk 1: GOD’S POWER SHINES IN OUR WEAKNESS

Students are constantly told to dream bigger, hustle harder, and chase success—but what if purpose isn’t some- thing you chase, but something you’re called into? This series helps students see that God’s purpose isn’t about doing more, but becoming more like Him. Through weakness, struggle, and surrender, His plan starts to take shape. Our prayer is that students would see their lives not as random or accidental, but as part of something far greater than themselves.

BOTTOM LINE
God’s power shines in our weakness

SCRIPTURE
2 Cor 12:9 “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” >> 1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” >> Jude 1:1b “...To those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ..”

Take some time to catch up. Ask your students – Take some time to catch up. Ask your students – If you could pick up a new skill in an instant, what would it be and why?

    DISCUSS THIS:
    1. The lesson mentions that culture tells us: Perform well, and you matter. In your world (school, sports, social media), what are the top three things that people use to measure your "value" or "success"?

    2. We often talk about "chasing" our dreams or "chasing" a purpose. What is the difference between chasing something you don't have and being called into something you already belong to (like Jude 1:1b says: called, beloved, and kept)?

    3. Think about the "Broken Crayon" illustration. Why is it so hard for us to show our "torn paper" or "broken edges" to other people? What are we afraid will happen if we aren't "brand new" and perfect?

    4. Read 2 Corinthians 12:9. Paul asked God to take away his "thorn" (his struggle), but God said no because His power is made perfect in weakness. How does it change your perspective to think that your biggest struggle might actually be the place where God's power is most visible?

    5. The lesson mentions that people thought Paul’s "in-person aura" was weak compared to his letters. Do you ever feel like you have to project a certain "aura" or "vibe" online or at school that doesn't actually match how you feel on the inside? How can we start being more authentic with each other?

    6. The lesson gave examples of God’s power looking like courage inside of anxiety rather than the absence of anxiety. Can you think of a time when God gave you the strength to get through a hard situation, even though the situation itself didn't disappear?

    7. Look at the weakness you wrote down during the paper activity. If you truly believed that God’s grace was "sufficient" (enough) for that specific weakness, how would your stress levels change this week?
